Collection Description

Eugene Wilbur Cook (1902-1978) was born and raised in Danville and graduated from Centre in 1923. After graduating, Cook continued his education at Ohio State University, where he received his master's and doctoral degrees. He returned to Centre in 1926 and served as professor of biology for forty-five years, including thirty years as department head.

Cook was a prolific amateur photographer, and left Centre a collection of over two thousand prints and negatives which chronicle the quarter century from the early 1920s to the late 1940s. Cook captured both the day-to-day activities of students and faculty and also the college's special events and celebrations.
