Alpha Delta Pi

Alpha Delta Pi holds the distinction of being the first secret society in the world for college women, founded on May 15, 1851, at Wesleyan Female College in Macon, Georgia. The original name of the sorority was The Adelphean Society. The word Adelphean is derived from the Greek word meaning sister. In 1904 the Adelphean Society became a national sorority and in 1913 adopted the Greek letters Alpha Delta Pi.

The Eta Omega Chapter of Alpha Delta Pi was installed at Centre College on March 25, 2000. Twenty-two women joined in the fall of 1999, and were joined by thirty women during winter formal rush to comprise the chapter's 53 charter members.
