Alpha Phi Omega

Alpha Phi Omega is a co-ed service fraternity organized to provide community service, leadership development, and social opportunities for college students. The fraternity was founded in 1925 at Lafayette College by former Boy Scouts as a way to continue participating in the ideals of Scouting at the college level, and became a national fraternity in 1927 with the founding of the Beta chapter at the University of Pittsburgh.

The Theta Theta chapter at Centre College was established on November 13, 1949. Thirty-three members, including students and faculty, were inducted into the fraternity at that time. After the fall semester of 1949, the chapter inducted 7 new members in February of 1950. Following that spring semester there are no records of the chapter for nearly 50 years, and the fraternity became inactive. In the spring of 1998, seventeen students and one faculty member decided to revive the fraternity by rechartering the Theta Theta chapter. The chapter contines to remain active with regular service projects.
