Dana X. Bible, Class of 1915

Well-known in college football coaching, Bible coached at several colleges and universities during his career of over 30 years, compiling an overall record of 192 victories, 64 losses, and 23 ties. He won five Southwestern Conference championships while coachibng at Texas A&M, and followed that with six titles in the then Big Six Conference when he coached at Nebraska. Bible then coached at the University of Texas until 1947, when he became athletic director until his retirement 25 years later. A president of the American Football Coaches Association, he was named to six college halls of fame. Bible died in Austin, Texas, in 1981.
