Davenport Inn

A prosperous Danville stagecoach inn in the early 1800's, located on the south side of Main Street between Second and Third Streets. The inn was originally built by Richard Davenport, and on his death, the business passed to his wife Elizabeth. The first meeting of the Centre College Board of Trustees, held on February 1, 1819, was in the "house of Elizabeth Davenport" - that is, at the inn.
