Deinologian Literary Society

The Deinologian Literary Society was founded in 1835 by former members of the Chamberlain Society. The society has included such figures as John C. Breckinridge, John Young Brown (Kentucky governor), James B. McCreary (U.S. Senator), and Thomas T. Crittenden. In the 1850's the Athaenean Literary Society was merged into the Deinologian Society. The society was involved in annual celebrations and exercises for graduating members, and continued in existence until about 1940.
