Edward P. Humphrey

Rev. Edward P. Humphrey was born in Connecticut in 1809. He graduated from Amherst College in 1828 and from Andover Seminary in 1833. In 1835 he accepted the ministry of the Second Presbyterian Church in Louisville, where he served for eighteen years. In 1853 he became a professor in the newly founded Danville Theological Seminary. Rev. Humphrey returned to Louisville in 1866 to become pastor of the College Street Presbyterian Church, where he remained until his retirement in 1879. He died on December 9, 1887. Rev. Humphrey served on the Centre College Board of Trustees from 1845, and as Chair from 1858 until his death.
