Edwin C. Kubale, Sr., Class of 1925

A native of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Ed "Ku" Kubale earned varsity letters in football, basketball and track ar Centre and served as captain of the southern champion football team in 1923. Kubale was twice named an honorable mention All-American and twice All-Southern. During his playing career, Kubale led Centre to three southern championships. He later coached Centre's football, basketball and track teams and served as athletic director. As Centre's football coach from 1929-37, he won 51 games, third on the school's all-time list. Kubale also coached at Rhodes College in Memphis, where he won two conference titles, and served as a coach of the Brooklyn Dodgers professional football team. Kubale also served as Centre alumni director and was a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity.
