Dear Father

I have two or three letters from you unanswered, which I should have answered two or three days ago, had I not been thinking of leaving Mrs. Sneeds, and was waiting until I come to some conclusion about the matter. I have taken Fraisers place at Mr. Hughe's, rooming with Hal Palmer and Ed Hughes, a nephew of our landlord - three of us in one room, but as we have two beds, one double bed and one single one, it doesn't make any particular difference. I had been wishing to get here for some time but could not "make the connection" as there was no room before Fraiser left. Both of my roommates boarded at Dr. Greens at the time I did

and both very fine fellows. The family with whom I board are Presbyterians. I have known them and have been very intimate with them ever since I have been here, and think Mrs. Hughes one of the finest ladies I ever knew. Treats her boarders as though they were sons. We pay three dollars a week not including light [illegible word] washing, $1/2 less than I paid at Mrs. Sneed's. We burn coal oil, and there being three of us in a room, that expense will be very moderate. Send me $27 to pay her from the 6th of March to 30th of Apl., which I told her I would pay as soon as I received it. Will Woodson has not yet paid me the $10 borrowed, but told me a day or two ago that he had written for money and would repay it in a short time, which when he shall have done it, I

will send to you immediately or abide await by your be commanded by you as to its disposal.

Tomorrow night the three speakers with the three societies whom the fire hindered from speaking on last 22nd of Feb. will deliver their orations. We expect grand times. Not having your letters with me I cannot answer them particularly.

Love to all
Yours affct
