To the Trustees of the Centre College of Kentucky

Gentlemen,

The duties of my profession in the station in which I am placed, together with the engagements of an imperious character, will, I find, absolutely forbid my attending the meetings of your Board, nor do I conceive that it will be in my power to render, in any other way, that aid which you have a right to expect from a fellow trustee.

Under these circumstances I have deemed it my duty to request that you will accept of my resignation which is here tendered, by, gentlemen,
