Grand Moderator of the Α.Κ.Φ. [Alpha Kappa Phi] Fraternity
Danville Ky.

Dear Brother

It has now been some time since we heard from the Grand Order, and as it is the Moderators duty to correspond monthly with the head of our organization I will now give the condition of this chapter. It is in a very flourishing condition, as much so as any fraternity in College. We have at present about a dozen mem-

bers all choice students & gentlemen. We were glad this year to welcome back our old member Mr. Harper [Matthew Claudius Harper] a most intelligent and worthy Α.Κ.Φ. [Alpha Kappa Phi] He was not here at all last year, but has now returned and intends remaining until he graduates. We have initiated four new members this term, Messrs David Shelby, James E. Saunders & Julian Barnett on the 7th of this month and a Mr. A.P. Hill [Albert Potts Hill] on the 12th. They are all well worthy of the honor of membership in our noble order. They bid fair to do well in college.

Mr. Shelby is a resident of Brandon, Rankin Co. [County]

There are good many new students and many of them will make us good members, and we are endeavoring from these to enlarge our members & influence. I wrote a letter to the Grand Order last Summer but never rec'd [received] an answer. Hope this one will be more punctually replied to. We would be glad if you would state in your next letter the different Colleges at which we have chapters. We would be much gratified to know

all in reference to this matter. Mr. Coffey [Bradford Davis Coffee] one of our oldest members rec'd [received] his Diploma in the Law department about three weeks since and has gone home.

We desire to hear from you often in reference to conditions of the fraternity and every thing which concerns its welfare. You will direct your next letter to Mr. Iddo Ballow [Iddo Baliou] who is our next Moderator.

Hoping to hear from you so I remain y'r [your] friend and brother in α.α.π. [alpha alpha pi]
