September 9 -- School opens
September 14 -- Last girl arrives. Every bed taken
September 16 -- Ethel Cone[1], in presence of crowd, lifts out first shovelful of dirt for the gymnasium
September 17 -- Entire schedule changes
September 21 -- Schedule is settled. We are in our rut
September 25 -- Gymnasium reception. New girls have a chance at the C.U.[2] men
September 28 -- Miss Sims[3] weighs; has gained ten pounds
October 5 -- Ethel Cone's shovelful is still the only one; looks lonesome
October 10 -- Miss Sims gains two more pounds
October 14 -- Many men and horses arrive; the gymnasium is begun
October 15 -- Honor system is discussed in the chapel
October 16 -- Honor system goes into effect till Thanksgiving; much weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth
October 19 -- Mattie Butt gets a hair cut
November 15 -- Seniors canvas town selling tickets for Hans Richard concert
November 18 -- 11:30 a.m. Hans Richard comes. 5 p.m. Hans Richard departs. Seniors huffy
November 20 -- Miss Sims adopts a cow
November 24 -- Twelve, noon. Thanksgiving holidays begin; girls depart
November 25 -- Thanksgiving day. All Danville goes to Lexington, to see the game[4]. Miss Sims takes in four Thanksgiving dinners
November 27 -- Girls return, grumbling
December 7 -- Four p.m. Great excitement. Sarah elopes. 9 p.m. Sarah returns
December 10 -- Y.W.C.A. Social. Great scarcity of boys
December 11 -- Y.M.C.A. Social at C.U. gymnasium. We return good for evil and attend in great numbers. We wish to kill with kindness
December 21 -- Eight p.m. Mock Christmas tree. 12 p.m. ghost walk. 12:30 Mr. Acheson[5] appears on scene of action; girls mistake him for a real ghost
December 22 -- Christmas holidays begin
January 5 -- School begins. O, rage! O, despair!
January 16 -- Lucy Lee takes mumps
January 17-21 -- Examinations
January 24 -- We all turn over a new leaf
February 4 -- Junior social. Some boys mistake it for Junior reception
February 5 -- Josephine Bell is stricken with mumps
February 6 -- Grand confessional. General loss of privileges
February 7 -- Frances Bradley has mumps
February 18 -- Mumps again. This time it is Helen Stevenson
March 5 -- Ethel Cone has the mumps on both sides; looks very pretty. Third floor in a panic of fear
March 12 -- Seniors star in vaudeville. Otherwise a quiet existence
April 1 -- Miss Carroll thinks she has mumps
April 2 -- Miss Carroll thinks she has typhoid fever
April 3 -- Miss Carroll really has tonsillitis
April 9 -- Tacky party. Lemonade and chewing gum. Admission thirteen cents, two for a quarter
April 21 -- Mr. Bond's recital. Seniors have a table in the dining room to themselves
April 22 -- Junior reception. Oh, that smell!
April 24 -- Honor system goes out with a crash
April 27 -- Glee Club concert. Mr. A. is peeved and makes all of us march in line. Up stairs immediately. Can't get in a word edgewise
