SECTION I. Study Hall

  1. At the ringing of the first study bell each girl must go to her room. The second study bell is the signal for STUDY.
  2. No girl may, under any circumstances, visit another girl's room during study hall.
  3. All permissions at this time will be given by the duty teacher.
  4. Saturday study hall will be from ten until twelve in the morning. Rooms must be ready for inspection at 9:30.

SECTION II. House Rules

  1. No rubbish of any kind must be swept into the halls nor thrown out the windows.
  2. All rooms will be inspected daily.
  3. Bath tubs must not be used before 6:00 AM nor after 6:00 PM except Friday, Saturday and Sunday when they may be used until 9:40 PM. Tubs must be left as you would like to find them.
  4. Remember to turn out the gas upon leaving the room. Damaged gas mantles beyond the regular supply for each room will be charged to the occupants of the room. Only safety matches may be used and these may be ordered through the secretary's office.
  5. All window shades must be pulled down while the girls are dressing.
  6. The telephones in the house are for business use ONLY. Students must not use them except in case of necessity and then only by permission.
  7. No boisterous conduct in the halls and no loud talking after the light bell nor before the rising bell is permitted.
  8. Girls must go immediately to their rooms at the ringing of the 9:40 bell, AND REMAIN THERE. Lights out at 10:00 PM.
  9. All students must come to the table for all meals unless ill. The name of the absent student will be registered by each teacher, at the table, in Miss Van Pelt's book. No meals will be served in the room.
  10. All edibles must be ordered through the office and money must accompany order.
  11. Campus boundary must be strictly observed.
  12. Town pupils are not to visit house pupils in their rooms except by permission from the office.
  13. No gentlemen may go to any girl's room without notifying the office.
  14. No girl will be given permission for week-end absence unless her work, in each subject, is of passing grade. Week-end absences may not be two in succession.

SECTION III. Sunday Rules

  1. All students will attend church each Sunday morning unless excused for illness. In case of illness, notify Miss Van Pelt and send a written excuse signed by her to the duty teacher of West Hall. Opportunity is also given to attend church in the evening.
  2. All girls will assemble in the chapel to report for morning church service. All girls will register at the dean's office for evening service.
  3. No visits nor calls will be made on Sunday, nor visitors received except members of family from out of town.
  4. No visiting from room to room will be allowed on Sunday during quiet hour.

SECTION IV. Town Rules

  1. Town privileges will be granted to all members of the graduating class and to the Honor Board, and to them ONLY.
  2. Only those possessing town privileges may go to the Tea Room unchaperoned.
  3. Students will not be permitted to open accounts except for books.
  4. The Shop Perfect may be visited but once a week, and then only in small groups of not more than six girls chaperoned. A limit of fifteen cents (15c) is placed on the amount to be spent at the Shop Perfect and the Tea Room.
  5. Once in two weeks girls may go shopping with table teacher. No one may visit the Ten Cent Store, Palace of Sweets, nor the Post Office.

IF THE COLLEGE IS IN SESSION, THE ABOVE RULES ARE IN FORCE AS SOON AS THE STUDENT REACHES DANVILLE

When a girl is given permission for a week-end visit, she is expected to return by the First Possible Train Monday morning. If she does so and misses any work, she will be permitted to make this work up in writing. If she returns later, she will receive a zero for each class missed and the privilege of going away the following month will be lost.

Week-end privileges will be given to no student whose work is not of a passing grade.
