Faculty met to appoint an instructor of English & French for the coming session. After reading testimonials of the various applicants it was decided to communicate with Rev. C. F. W. Hubbard, strongly endorsed by Prof. A. S. Cook of Yale University.
Prof. Fales was requested to present a scheme of study for the fall. Profs. Redd & Nelson were appointed to arrange about the College Books and by the students, but it was distinctly understood that the College would be responsible for all risks.

Faculty met and appointed Rev. C. F. W. Hubbard, Professor of English & French for one year at the salary of $1,300. Hours per wk. from 14 to 16.
Prof. Redd to attend to the advertising through Ayer & Son of Philadelphia.

Faculty suggested that a prescribed course for Ph.D. be arranged for those desiring this degree and that the same be recommended to the Board of Trustees. Other general business was attended to. Adjourned.

Faculty met with all members present. Professor Hubbard with us for the first time. Classification of new students and general business attended to.
Moved and carried that 30 absences without excuse be allowed a student till Christmas.
More than 30 unexcused absences to result in suspension, or more than 11 absences from any one class. After 15 absences parent and student to be notified that first quota is exhausted; after 10 more a second notice that the second quota is exhausted and that only 5 more remain; after 5 more suspension shall follow.

Faculty met in Dr. Young's study. Roll called, other new students classified. Students of the various class showing deficiencies admonished and allowed one month to catch up. If then there is no such progress as to indicate hopes that said students could not keep up, they would be advised to fall back into the lower class.

Faculty met, roll gone over as usual, and at the suggestion of Dr. Young the students of the senior class who were behind were to be allowed till the examination to show that they could keep up with their work. If they failed, the deficiencies of the past year would count against them as well as the failures in the senior class.

Faculty met with Dr. Young, prayer by Dr. Worrall. Roll called, and 15 absences unexcused being found against Thomas W. Keldy, William Shanks, Watson, Louis Bryan, Calvin M. Fackler, Thomas L. Blayney, and 30 absences against Morrison Breckinridge, the secretary was ordered to inform them as well as their parents or guardians.
