Collection Description

This collection includes printed serial publications for Centre College and Caldwell College/Kentucky Collection for Women. Included are annual catalogs, yearbooks, handbooks, literary magazines, and miscellaneous publications. For holdings are incomplete for many of the titles. Publications for Central University (Richmond, Ky.) can be found in CC-131 and Danville Theological Seminary in CC-56.

Cento
 
First appearing in 1891 as a magazine published by the literary societies, the Cento evolved through several stages into the college newspaper which continues publication today. The following bound volumes are located on the back wall of the Archives.

The following are boxes containing miscellaneous loose issues of the Cento, and are located in sequence on the Archive shelves. In 1914 the Cento changed to a newspaper format. Many of the issues are in very fragile condition.

Centre College Courant
 
Published by Centre's literary societies, the Centre College Courant first appeared in March 1879, and ceased after ten issues in February, 1880. The volumes are located on the back wall of the Archives.

Centre College Magazine
 
First appearing in February 1859, the Centre College Magazine was a product of the college's literary societies. In 1927 an attempt was made to revive the title, but the venture only lasted a few years. The following bound volumes are located on the back wall of the Archives.

Vantage Point
 
Vantage Point publishes the poetry, short stories, artwork, photography, and other creative work of Centre's student body. The following issues are located on the back wall of the Archives.

Yearbooks (Centre College)
 
The first yearbook was published in 1897. None was published in 1918 due to World War I. The last yearbook was published in 2006. The yearbook has had several titles: Eccentric, Cardinal and Blue, Old Centre, and Olde Centre. Following World War II Centre published a "yearbook" for the Army Air Corps 20th College Training Detachment trainees. This is located with the other yearbooks. The volumes are located on the front book shelves in the Special Collections room.

The yearbook had several titles: Bluebook, Chronicle, and Daisy. In 1930 a separate edition of Old Centre was published for the Women's Department. Beginning in 1931 Old Centre began to include the Women's Department.
